So I’m supposed to be doing research in networks. I have been reading all of these cool papers about integrated vs. differentiated services and all of this other hoo-hah, and I’ve realized that I don’t care about networking. Most of the insteresting problems have been solved. No, what I care about it the internet.
Until now I thought that those things were one and the same, but it turns out theory aren’t and it turns out that I don’t really care about networks, I care about the Internet, and making sure that it stays healthy and gets spread around to as many countries as possible, much like I described when I was talking about what I see as the main tasks for computer science.
